Meet the Senior Management team

Howard Rogers, Managing Director.

As 100% shareholder of Appledorn, Howard is the driving force behind the whole team ensuring the business is focussed on customer service, delivering the right design to the correct specification and costs.

Howard has been involved in the development of care homes since the early 1990s. Having specialised in the care sector for most of his career he has been involved in the design and construction of around 200 care homes throughout the UK. Also undertaking the estates and facilities management in a cross section of homes within the care sector he is regularly involved in designing out many operational ‘issues’ prior to the building being constructed. He has seen vast changes in the design of care homes over the years and is actively involved in the latest design philosophies with many of the leading care operators in the sector.

Over a lengthy career in the sector he prides himself in having the ability to run a focussed, user friendly business with tight control on costs. A testimony to this is the many repeat projects awarded by our customers.

Ian Roberts, Commercial Director.

Ian has over forty years’ experience working in the construction industry; working as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor and latterly as Commercial Director at Appledorn. He has seen involvement in civil engineering, shop-fitting, the petrochemical industry, general construction and nearly ten years with Howard in the care sector – both Design & Build of new care homes and traditional contracts for alterations, refurbishments and facility upgrades. Having seen most things there are to see in construction, Ian firmly believes in the contractor being an integral part of the design process from an early stage, to ensure the client gets best value for money but not at the expense of quality. He believes that most commonly cheapest is not the best and that working with the client and design team throughout the build process on choice of materials etc ultimately leads to a satisfied and happier client and a better and more long-lasting finished product. New technology and IT have changed the construction industry immeasurably during Ian’s career and yet he believes some key ingredients remain unchanged: teamwork, communication, understanding and fairness still remain at the heart of his approach.

Gareth Rogers, Construction Director.

As Construction Director at Appledorn, Gareth works on projects from Scotland down to the South Coast of England. His daily responsibilities include facilities management, with tasks such as; planning proactive & reactive maintenance, Health and Safety & fire risk assessment coordination, as well as ensuring that out of hours procedures are in place.

Along with the above, Gareth also works on new build and refurbishment projects. Covering project design coordination, regulatory compliance approval and quality assurance pre-project handover, to name just a few.

Prior to working at Appledorn, Gareth gained his HNC at York College, graduating in 2009.
